Frequently Asked Questions

What are Ocean Planet Kayak Tours trips like?

We are dedicated to providing you a great time out on the water. The trips are relaxed, friendly and we paddle at a leisurely pace. We take time to discover the surroundings and stop off at beaches along the way. Come along - all you need is to appreciate the outdoors, and have a healthy sense for fun and adventure. We offer trips that have minimal ecological impact on the places we visit.

Do I need paddling experience?

No previous paddling experience is required. Our guides are fully qualified to instruct you in all the basic paddling strokes and are there to help teach you all the skills you need. At the beginning of each trip there is a safety and paddle instruction that will explain all you need to know for a fun and relaxing time out on the water. If you have any doubts, please contact us.

How fit do I have to be?

You don't have to be an athlete to join our sea kayaking trips, anyone can do it, who enjoys a little regular exercise. We do however, encourage a reasonable level of fitness, as we find this will add to your enjoyment of the trip.

How many people join your tour?

Our guided kayak tours run with a minimum of 4 participants (6 participants required for kayak wine and oyster tasting tour), although we cater to both small and large groups. Group numbers determine the amount of guides who will accompany you on your tour.

What if I leave a Personal Item behind?

Please try to remember to take back your personal belongings at the end of each paddle. Unfortunately a large number of items are left behind in our kayaks, vehicles and drybags at the end of the tours and during kayak hire. If you do leave something behind it will be placed in our 'lost property' for a period of one month, after which unclaimed items will be handed over to charity. Should you wish us to post your personal item this can be arranged. Personal items will be returned via Australia Post COD.

I can't swim?

Everyone wears a bouyancy vest while out on the water. They are designed to keep you afloat until you get a helping hand from one of our guides. If you have any problems let your guide know on the day.

Can we bring our children?

Although most of our trips have adults in mind, many of our itineraries are suitable for strong and active teenagers. We have a minimum age on tours of 7 years. If you would like your children to join you on one of Ocean Planet Kayak Tours trips, please contact us.
